Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United America. She co-founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly thereafter exited the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's first Shark investors has been part of every episode of Shark Tank. In February 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, the most significant being a $350,000 investment which was able to cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was always changing jobs during Corcoran's entire life. Her family often relied on the free delivery of food from a local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who occasionally consumed too much alcohol and treated her mother with disrespect and condescension, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran was a struggling student throughout school. Later, she discovered she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated in a Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran who was in the process of failing several courses in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
